Virtual events can reach participants around the world like never before. The Covid-19 pandemic forced a surge in virtual conferences and meetings.
Even before the term “virtual event” was mainstream, Zulayka pioneered this back in 2011. As Uniface moved the annual user conference from a live event to a global virtual experience that spanned 30 countries and three time zones—and more than doubled attendance in the process — the human element was at the heart of the strategy. This was executed by:

  • Creating a viral marketing video based on Quentin Tarantino’s classic Kill Bill 2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=svEef_xndNY
  • Personalizing the platform by designing avatars of company employee’s and speakers
  • Making it easy for attendees to connect with peers and speakers (e.g., a virtual bar was added where people could gather)
  • Managing a complex mix of teams and high-tech strategies
  • Adding hybrid element for customers and employees
  • Attendees enjoyed an exclusive year-long access to the platform. Which was used as training resources.

The event also received press coverage and Zulayka was interviewed by Event Marketer, an US magazine. Which consequently got her invited to be one of the featured speakers during the annual Event Marketing Summit in Chicago. The world’s leading executive conference on events and trade shows. Her presentation, 100% Digital: 15 Steps to Managing a Virtual Program, covered the basics of executing a successful virtual event. With specific focus on designing and delivering engaging content that excites audiences and compels them to participate.
